They've been gone too long.
Sep. 5th, 2009 08:33 amColt sat up on the porch of his aunt's house, his parents were supposed to be back from a hunt two days ago. He sighed closing his eyes. They were still late. He hated the worrying. It would be a while before he could join them.
Made things worse with it being the night of a full moon. His aunt would be with the others. His sister was already asleep, curled up on the couch. They both knew that their babysitter for the night was nearby, he usually didn't come in until full dark. Colt also knew that his uncle hated the idea of a vampire watching out for him and his twin sister, but someone who knew about his family was better than involving some innocent.
Sipping at his coke he watched fireflies dance along the grass.
Finishing off the bottle of soda he got up heading back inside the house, stopping at the couch to drape a blanket over his sister and turn off the TV. She had fallen asleep watching some Disney cartoon.
I should call them, see where they are. I mean Dad and I... We were supposed to go to the lake tomorrow. He'll probably forget. He had made his way to the kitchen, dropping off the empty bottle and moved a chair to the counter so he could climb up and get the box of cookies from the top of the fridge.
There was the sound of the front door opening and closing. Colt dropped down from his perch, snagging a knife from the drawer.
"It's me."
The knife went back away. "Little late tonight aren't you?" He smiled as he went to give his Aunt's boss a hug.
"There was something I had to tend to. You should be in bed."
"I can't sleep. Just worried. You know how I get with the full moon when they're away. At least I know Mom's with Dad and my Uncle. If anything happens she'll patch them up."
His companion smiled a little as he took a seat at the table. "Do you want me to make dinner?"
"A vampire that cooks." Colt shook his head laughing. "It's okay. We ate before our aunt left to meet up with the others." He held up the cookies. "Besides, got a snack."
